Wedding Shower

To finish up the girls' night, Lori curled Brittany and Bailey's hair, I put a little eye makeup on them, and they were good to go. Lori took pictures of them once we made it back down to Pleasant Grove.

We went down for Mollie Johnson's wedding shower. The shower went well (lots of games, which I thought people didn't do anymore), but grandma Backlund had some problems while I was driving us back home. She slurred her words a lot and was saying strange random sentences. Combine that with her falling again earlier that morning and her health was really bad. Her medications are going to be micromanaged to see if she is overmedicating, or to give a better idea of if she had a small stroke.



Girls Night!

Lori brought Bailey and Brittany up tonight for a Girls' Night. I thought it would be a good idea as I don't see or spend very much time with Brittany anymore. I made dinner, we played Don't Eat Frank (the Halloween version of Don't Eat Pete), and then watched a movie. They even got their nails painted - a true girls activity!

Bday Number 61

Happy birthday mom! I joined in the festivities down in Pleasant Grove. Dinner, cake, and family! Even Jon and posse came.

Dad had himself a piece of cake...before the bday girl got any!



Wheeeeee!!!

Turns out, the Alpine Coaster in Park City is alot of fun! Lori, Cody, and I had gotten our own hotel room last night and then met up with Jenny and the boys for a ride on the coaster. It has tracks on the mountain kind of like the Alpine Slide, but your buckled into a seat which is secured to the track so you won't fall off. When you're going full speed down the mountain, it feels like you're going to tip off the tracks on the curves, but once you breathe through that, the corners are so fun! Chris rode with me and never complained about how fast we were going. Micah had Jenny slow it way down and Brett caught up behind them. Fun day!

Park City

Brett won some time at a condo in Park City as an appreciation at work. Lori, Cody, and I joined them there for some play time. Brett grilled us steaks for dinner and then we played a charade type game where we pretty much all acted like idiots, but funny idiots! The boys had been dying all day to go outside into the hot tub. Jenny had told them they had to wait until I got there before they could. They were so cute out in it!

Say...Cheese!

I let a co-worker stay with me last week during the seminar so she wouldn't have to drive so far every morning and night with the long hours we were working. She found out that I like processed cheese. Guess what she brought me as a thank you?

Lori came up tonight to catch up on our TV show. I actually made dinner. Guess what it consisted of? We had cheese and broccoli soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. She was a little cheesed out, but I thought it was delish!

Fire! Fire!

The night went off in sirens and they didn't go away. I looked out the window and turns out they were all pulling up in front of the Kensington Apartment building south of my building. Flames were shooting out of the roof. It was somewhat put out, and then the firefighters were walking around on the roof and knocking it down until the flames started coming out again so they could put it all the way out. It went on from about 2 a.m. until 4 a.m. Thankfully the lack of sleep didn't affect me at Church.

I actually had some good conversation at Church today. Lots of teasing with a 30-group guy. That doesn't happen often!

Seminar

So much happened during the seminar, but it was more personal and sensitive so I decided to write it down in my hard-copy journal. Cool experiences though so if you're interested, ask me about it.

Pack's Pumpkin Patch

Dad and mom planted lots of pumpkin plants again so that they could do a giveaway to the members of their Spanish ward. I went down after work to help out. I dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and had a basket that I refilled often with cookies for everyone. Mom decided to do a full sit down meal though so it ended up being a lot of work. A HUGE hit though! They loved getting the pumpkins, apples from Shauna's orchard, candy from the candy cannon, dinner, and all-you-can eat cookies. They are so humble! I went out into the pumpkin patch and one of the dad's was so surprised that it wasn't one per family, but each. Every time the candy cannon went off, a big cheer went up. There were about 200 people there and it was so crowded but fun.

Seminar!

It's Seminar time again! That means we had some late nights in preparation and a looong Saturday. It's always a fun time of year! I haven't quite started my name/face memorization yet.

Blast from the Past

Melissa Morris Larsen came up to give me a haircut last night. It's a bit of a blast from the past to be around my old high school friends. We went to the Olive Garden for dinner first, and then back to my place for the cut. I know it hasn't been too long since my last cut, but it really seemed long! She straightened my hair afterward and I wore it to work like that. Do you know how many guys that I work with came by and asked if I did something different to my hair, like color it? Only two actually knew the difference was straight instead of curly. One guy actually asked if I was wearing a new hair clip. Hair clip? Really? We all got a good laugh out of it.

Melissa is in the process of adopting again. The birth mother is having the baby today and should be signing the papers the next day. I wrote one of her letters of recommendation for LDS Family Services.

Final Sessions

After Dana's family left last night, Amy and Amanda Felix came over to spend the night and then watch Sunday's morning session with me. I made breakfast pancakes for them...and discovered that Tiffany's poopy diaper the day before had leaked on one of my kitchen chairs. How great that it was just in time for my next houseguests. Ick!

Busy Conference Season

I spent the night in PG, sleeping over at Lori's house (my room was given away for Lisa and Steven). I watched Conference at mom's though, then drove home to Salt Lake in time to host Dana's family for the second session of Conference. Dana left early to go over and get in place for his singing at the Conference Center for Priesthood session. Dad and mom came up too so that dad could take Taylor over to the session and watch Dana and hear the talks. I managed to track down some tickets for them to go in person. Those work contacts are sure nice!

The air conditioning was turned off at my place back on the 18th of September and the weather has been unseasonably hot, making my place super hot! With all the houseguests, we were sweltering! Then, I remembered the pool, in time for mom to bring all of Deborah's family's swimsuits up with her. The pool was so nice and cool! I took all the kids for rides around the pool. Little Tiffany was so cute. I may have helped her go underwater a couple of times. She did great!
