Home Sweet Home?

We had the annual wienie roast yesterday.Without the farm or orchard, there really isn't anything to burn for the bonfire, but we made do with wood instead. I was in charge of the easter egg hunt and did a trivia game afterward with numbered slips of paper that were in the eggs. They were religious-themed and ended up spelling out a scripture about the resurrection. It's always a little chaotic at these gatherings, but I think it still turned out okay. Jon even answered some of the questions! Jenica's mom answered one as well and won a prize. She said the answer as a joke but it turned out to be correct which she thought was pretty funny.

 

Lori and Cody cleaned almost all of the rest of their stuff out from downstairs so I could finally start putting things away. I made a good dent on it yesterday and today and will finish up the last of it tomorrow night. I'd needed to do it now because I'm going to Moab for a Spring Break trip with Lori and Jenny's families during the week and won't be home again to do it before my house guest, Jennifer Schmidt, comes on Friday. I've moved my piano out of the closet and in to the living room and Dana helped me move a bed. It's finally looking like a home even though mom and dad aren't here to make it fully feel like that. They've been missed this week and Easter!

 

I went with Amy Felix to a mid-single's ward in Provo for Church. It was a mostly singing sacrament meeting and was really well-done. Dana's family invited me over for Easter dinner which was really nice of them. I made cookies to bring as that was the only thing I had in my refrigerator. Turns out I don't have a spatula, oven mitts, mixing spoons, measuring cups etc. I'm going to have to raid one of the boxes Lori's cleaned out of mom's stuff upstairs!

 

For Jeffrey and Taylor's birthdays, I took them out for ice cream. They wanted the King Kong Kone's from Macey's. A pound of ice-cream for less than two dollars. Sounded good to me!

 

Unsettled

For a belated birthday celebration, Amy and I hit our favorite eating spot-Wingers! Since I'm still very unsettled at home and not able to unpack yet, we went shopping after to pick up household supplies (she's recently moved as well). Now that I'm back in PG though, she's considering moving back. As well she should!

 

We had a retirement social for a guy from work. He requested cheesecakes. I'm not on the social committee anymore, but I helped out with picking them up from Costco and in plating the pieces. We have a couple of hams on the committee! (Jordan Davis and Lydia Carlisle. Why yes that is dental floss being used to cut the cheesecakes!)

 



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I found out that I did NOT get the position that I applied for in the Temple Department. Amy asked if it's the first time I've been turned down for a job that I wanted. I'm sure it's not...but for the life of me I can't think of any other time that this has happened! I actually felt a little relieved when they told me. I'm not happy about how it came about with some of the deceit that went on, but the outcome is good. Especially as the person who was hired is a good friend of mine that I'm so glad will be coming back to the Temple Department!

42 Years

Today is mom and dad's anniversary. It was 42 years ago that they started this adventure together, and now they've started a new one with their mission. They arrived in Merced last night.

 

 

Sarah and I had an appointment together in Layton that we bought from a KSL Deal. It was a body sculpting thing so hopefully we'll see some results! After getting home, I was able to see some good progress with the unpacking while Lori is moving. I can walk around my bed now! All the equipment is now in the exercise room, I was able to do laundry as the bathroom is almost completely finished, and the pantry is pretty much done too. Love that settled feeling!



Change In All Things

This has been a busy week! During the day I was working on a big project at work (2012 Annual Temple Report for the First Presidency) and then in the evenings I was packing up my apartment so that everything would be completely ready when Jenny and her family came on Friday to move me. They arrived at 5:15 p.m., we loaded up, drove 45 min to Pleasant Grove, and had everything unloaded by 7:15 p.m. Not bad! There was crazy snow on Thursday and Friday, but for a three-hour period Friday evening, it stopped and we were able to move just fine. Saturday we woke up to inches on the ground though.

 

Mom and dad finished packing their stuff Saturday, Lori and Cody were packing and moving some of their stuff upstairs already, and I tried to get part of my room sorted. Hard to do when it was stuffed to overflowing so that there was a narrow pathway from the door to my bed and that's all! We stopped in the evening though so we could all go out with mom and dad for a farewell dinner at Red Lobster. That place stinks!...like fish. I could barely breathe going in there. It was nice to spend time with mom and dad.

 

Sunday m&d decided to go to the family ward with us and then have Sunday dinner at home with grandma to say goodbye to her. Then Dana's family came over for farewells, we packed (it might be more appropriate here to say crammed) the final items into the car and then they pulled away for the first leg of their journey. They're going to stay at Ann's house tonight in St. George. Bittersweet!

 

 



THE Event of the Season!

I was supposed to go to Amy Felix's birthday party Friday night, but after hearing that everyone was going to mom's to help move furniture and items around as well as pack, I decided to go to that instead. There was so much accomplished that night and on Saturday! The old beds are all moved out (I slept on the floor on pillows the whole weekend), the couches were moved, the garage was gutted and cleaned out, the shed and storage container are both packed full and the house was cleaned and tables/chairs were set-up for the family gathering Sunday after mom and dad spoke in Church.

 

After seeing that we had 97 confirmed people coming over for a luncheon on Sunday, mom had me post in the event page on Facebook that it was potluck. Turns out we had food left over even though more people showed up than we even expected! Jenny, Deborah, Lori, me, Nathan, Taylor, Dana, and Bill Feveryear sang a musical number in Sacrament. It was a nice arrangement of the two songs I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go and I Need Thee Every Hour. Almost a mash-up if you will. I didn't cry hardly at all during mom and dad's talks. No, I decided to save that for afterward when dad gave me my blessing. They were set apart by President Miles, and then dad gave me and Dana a father's blessing. He said that I was a second mother to the nieces and nephews and an example of the type of woman that the nephews would one day choose to marry. He also said that Lori and I would get along and that I would be able to see when distance was needed between Lori and I so that she and Cody could have time together and keep their marriage strong. Made me think that dad was speaking from experience in having other siblings live in the home and the affect it could have on the marital relationship...

 

Mom and dad found out that they will be living in Merced, California and will be working with three Spanish units in a stake. They're going Spanish! And are so happy about that!

 

The guests were finally starting to trickle out.

believe she sat there and took picture after picture with me!
Plus, all the kisses she gave me!

Oldies But Goodies

I came across these videos of TJ that he wanted me to film back at Christmas time. They were so funny! We had the hardest time remembering the last part of that song! It's a good thing Jenny was listening in from the other room to help TJ finish it off because I certainly couldn't! I love when he seems to channel rainman with his closed eyes and rocking.

 

 

 

 



 

I won tickets today from 99.5 on a contest that I entered through their Facebook site to see Imagine Dragons in concert! I'm taking Karen. Her whole family loves the band and she bought them all tickets for Christmas but didn't get one for herself.

 

I got eyelash extensions for the first time today. They're pretty noticeable. I may have to try to tweak them before work tomorrow...

I Like to Move It Move It

I've put my room online for rent. Hopefully I will be able to find someone for the end of March so I don't have to pay another month's rent! Amy DeRoest Morby's husband came up on Saturday with a friend to help me move my treadmill and a few other things down to moms. I didn't want to do a wasted drive down to PG, so I loaded up my own car too before they got there. That makes two vehicles of stuff so far (keep in mind one is a MINI though and doesn't pack a lot...). My friend Amy is going to help me move a couch this upcoming week and then Jenny's family will help me on the actual moving day.

 

I got called in to meet with a member of the bishopric in the family ward. I did not get issued a calling though. Apparently they had wanted me to be the Activity Day person, and then realized I wouldn't be able to meet mid-week during the day due to work and me being in SL all day! Phew! That was a close one!
